The details are:
Easter Sunday, 8th of April 2012
Assemble for 12:00pm at the gates of Cornamagh Cemetary, Athlone.
We will then make the short walk behind the National Flag to the grave of the late IRA Volunteer, Thomas Hughes where the commemoration will be held. Thomas was executed alongside his IRA comrades Michael Walsh, Hubert Collins, Stephen Joyce, and Martin Burke on the 20th of January 1923 by the 26-County Army in Custume Barracks, Athlone. At that time they were under an oath of allegiance to the British Crown. The ruthlessness in which the Republic was suppressed cannot be forgotten, 77 official executions and 124 unofficial executions (murders) is how the current un-sovereign 26-County State came into being. The Free State Army stood 50,000 strong during that period and was well armed and financed by the English Government with many of the recruits being ex-British Army.
In suppressing the All-Ireland Republic of 1916 and accepting the partitionist assemblies of Leinster House and Stormont these plastic Republicans who today sit in parliaments that can only be described as puppet parliaments, pay mere lip service to the Republic and have betrayed the very essence of Irish Republicanism, that is "to break the connection with England, the never failing source of all our political evils".
We in Republican Sinn Féin call on the people of Ireland to withdraw support from these corrupt British institutions that have been planted in our country and re-affirm your allegiance to the Republic of 1916. Join the Republican Movement today and play your part.
Continuity not Compromise
